On May 15, the students of Laurelton Hall modeled eco-friendly outfits that they designed and created themselves.
"It is a fun, creative, high energy way to say 'look, trash can be pretty trash can be funny, trash can be reused.'" said teacher Donna DiMassa.
"My mom broke our beach umbrella, it kind of popped all the way up so I just kinda said, it's a material that I can definitely use rather than just throwing it away." said student Aubrey Lowe
"Almost every day when I watch the news I hear something bad about something going on in the environment and I start thinking that if our girls just do little daily things that will start making a difference." added DiMassa.
Participants and spectators both agree, Trash the Runway lets students showcase their creativity, while underscoring the importance of recycling.
